Nutrition & Supplements
Supplements and Nutrition. But what does it all mean? is it all too complicated? Help!
Let’s start first with nutrition, the basic kind. From breakfast to lunch and to dinner with all the other snacks we consume throughout the day.
I know we have all probably seen a food chart or meal plans of various food types that we are to consume. The reason why we have these, in common knowledge is to guide ourselves to reach a particular body or health goal.
However what might be easier to focus on is to get the desired amount of particular nutrients into your body for the desired time frame and outcome, if we are talking days or hours that is. So what are we saying here? If possible try to incorporate them both. I mean why not, it is your body and if both work the results will be twice as nice no?
Don’t feel shy resorting to supplements. Supplements, as their name implies are there to supplement your diet plan, They are there to fill in the places food might not always be available to fill, for example if you run a busy daily schedule and still need to hit your daily macros. (Macros: when you count those macronutrients—grams of proteins, carbs and fats—you’re eating within your calorie goal, and in what ratios.)
Remember, supplements are not steroids, and steroids are not supplements.
So the next time you’re out of your kitchen’s reach and you need to hit those macros, don’t be shy, go ahead and whisk out that shaker bottle and mix your shake.
A very broad subject topic and determinants vary from a wide range of areas of diet to exercise to physical wellness, spiritual,
Some of them we will dwell upon, some we will give pointers on but still consider them nonetheless.
Overall physical wellness promotes the balance of physical activity,
nutrition (diet) and mental well-being to keep your body in top condition.
Our bodies are designed differently and have different ways in which they respond to nutrition. Which is why
it is important to first understand your body type and to identify your optimum body weight/size and physique (if these aspects matter
What do you mean by body types?
In certain physical wellness circles such as body building, identifying which body type you belong to is a winning advantage from the
very start. Below are the main body type classification:
Ectomorphs, Endomorphs and Mesomorph.
“An ectomorph body type is most often seen in the pages of fashion magazines. They are usually slim boned, long limbed, lithe and have very little body fat and little muscle.
Ectomorphs tend to have fragile, delicately built bodies and find it difficult to gain weight or add muscle.
To add to the list, Supermodels, ballerinas and basketball players most commonly fall into this group.”
As an Ectomorph, try and incorporate these foods in your meals or healthy snacks:
such as nuts, sunflower seeds, dried fruits, and starchy vegetables,
if you want to put on weight.
We shall dwell more on the other remaining two body types in future posts.
